The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
On September 30, we encourage all Canadians to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.

The amount of paperwork that needs to be done after your spouse dies is enormous. It's confusing and quite stressful. I've spent a LOT of time in line-ups at government offices to hand in documents, and waiting on-line and on the phone.
2:35 pm - Service Ontario, Scott & Vine
ARGH!!!
Dealing with Service Ontario is always such a hassle. When it was finally my turn I handed over all the documents to change the car registration over, she told me that she can't accept my copy of the will ... she needs the original or a notarized copy.
Nobody else complained about the copy I had. When we had our wills done they gave us this copy to put in the safe and kept the originals on file at the lawyer's office.
The clerk at Service Ontario wouldn't said I have to go to the lawyer's office and either get a notarized copy or the original. I called the lawyer's office and of course they're going to charge me for it. I don't know how much they're going to charge but I was told it could be as much as $100 or more. What a rip off.
I'm kind of upset with the lawyer's office. If they were going to keep the original on file they should have given us and notarized copy in the first place.
Argh. They sure don't make it easy for a grieving person that just lost their spouse.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Rain, at times heavy is expected tonight into Wednesday.
Hazard:
Total local rainfall amounts near 30 to 45 mm.
Timing:
Beginning late this afternoon or this evening tapering off through Wednesday morning.
Discussion:
Showers are expected to push into the region through the afternoon as a moisture laden system moves into the Great Lakes Basin. The showers are expected to become more widespread and heavy at times tonight along with the risk for thunderstorms as a more unstable air mass moves in. Showers will continue into Wednesday morning but are expected to become more isolated and ease off in intensity. Some areas may potentially receive in excess of 45 mm and may require to be upgraded to a rainfall warning. There still remains a high degree of uncertainty on where the heaviest rain will setup.

I dismantled the patio furniture on the back deck (by myself) and then moved each piece down the stairs and out onto the back lawn so that I could power-wash it. Then I cleaned the outdoor rug and maneuvered it to hang over the railing to dry.
Today is supposed to be nice, but then we have rain in the forecast for the next 5-6 days. I wanted the pieces to be clean and dry before I put them away for the winter.
Later I got all the furniture pieces into the garage. The rug wasn't quite dry so I brought it into the house overnight.
I also moved the front yard and the back yard. It's very difficult with the pain I'm.

My back pain is the worst that it's ever been and my right leg is much more numb and tingly now. My whole right foot is numb. It makes it painful to stand, and walking is excruciating.
1:00 pm - Dennis had an appointment with our family doctor and I had to lift the wheelchair in and out of the car, and push him from the parking lot into the building and up to the office, then back again. It was so difficult to do with this horrendous back pain.
Today: Shallow fog patches near sunrise, dissipating this morning, then mainly sunny High 23°C. Humidex 25°C. UV index 6 or high.

8:50 am - Life Labs. Appointment for bloodwork. I'll get the results on Friday the 13th. I hope that's not an unlucky day for me.
My back pain is nearly unbearable.
7:15 pm - Dr. Ogala. Urgent Care appointment with family doctor. I need to find out what's going on with my back. This is the most intense pain I have ever experienced in my back. Last Saturday I thought it was getting better. I wasn't too bad that day but since then it's gotten worse and worse. If I've bend forward I cannot even touch my knees let alone come anywhere near my feet. Getting dressed is excruciating. And I literally cannot pick up anything off the floor or get things out of the lower shelves of the fridge or cupboards.
I've tried the exercises and heat and cold and everything they suggest, but it's not getting better.
Tomorrow I have to take Dennis to see our family doctor and I'll have to push him in the wheelchair and it's going to be so hard for me to get the wheelchair in and out of the car. I think that might be the thing that originally triggered my sciatica.
I can lift something straight up but to put it in the car I have to lean forward and stretch out my arms and the pain is excruciating. Argh.
I don't have time for this. 🫤 I'm hoping he will send me for a scan.

My aim for the afternoon is simply "to be". Call me Mellow Yellow, quite rightly. I'll do my tasks, but I'm not going to stress about doing them perfectly.
At 6:15 am I got up (a bit late). I took Tickles out to the backyard on her flexi-lead because there has been skunks around the neighbourhood recently. Then I made coffee for myself and fed her.
At 7:00 am I got Dennis's morning meds ready and brought them up to him, took Tickles for a walk at the cemetery, came home and made breakfast for Dennis.
At 9:00 am the physiotherapist came to the house for 30 minutes. We had a chat and he watched Dennis walk and asked a few questions. Then he said this was going to be his last visit because there's really not anything more that he can do for Dennis. He wished us well and said that he hopes that Dennis can continue to keep walking up and down the stairs for as long as possible.
At 10:00 am I drove over to Hartzell Road. I had to return an item to Home Hardware, then I went grocery shopping at Food Basics. Came home, put the food away, made Dennis a cup of tea and gave home a donut.
At 11:00 I got Dennis's morning meds ready again, caught up on some paperwork, started another load of laundry, etc.
By Noon I already had over 5000 steps. And today has been a light day. My To-Do List is huge, but this afternoon I'm going to try NOT to stress about it.

My brother John came over this afternoon. He wanted to have a little visit with Dennis and while he was here he offered to fix our garden hose (which had burst yesterday). I went over to Home Hardware with him to buy a couple of parts, and he and Dennis worked on it in the garage.
After he left to drive home Dennis and I took a nap before dinner. (46 min)

This sciatica back pain is terrible and relentless. I'm going to start following the Sciatica Pain Relief exercises from Movement World.
1. Walk 2-5 minutes every one or two hours.
2. Lie flat on your back with your legs up on a chair seat or a stack of pillows, for 2-20 minutes. Sometimes placing a towel or a small pillow under your lower back helps.
3. Do the piriformis stretch standing, laying down or sitting.

I've had back pain off and on for the last few years, but lately the episodes are becoming more frequent and lasting longer. I've been previously diagnosed with Degenerative Disk Disease and Piriformis Syndrome, plus my back was injured in a car accident in 2017. The aging process is the mostly likely reason for the continued deterioration of my spine, the compression of my discs, and the pinched nerves.
I decided to purchase "Sciatica Pain Relief" Online Course by MovementWorld.com
