I had to drive over to the Niagara Outlet Mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake today. ... twice! The first time was to pick up a pair of jeans (33W x 34L) that I had ordered for Dennis from Old Navy. When I got home the first time, Dennis tried them on and said he thought they were still a bit too big and asked me if I could order the next size smaller (32W x 34L). He said if they fit OK he'd like two pair of them. So I ordered two pairs of that size, went back to the mall, and brought them home. Dennis tried them on and said they were too small. Argh. So he's going to keep the first pair and now I have to make a third trip to the mall and return the smaller jeans. 

The parking lot is always full, so to get from the parking lot, I had to walk a long way, then through the outdoor mall, all the way to the end where the Old Navy store is, and then back to the car ... it was 1.15 km ... and I did it twice. :/

I have to take Tickles to the vet's office at 10:20 am this morning. The vet instructed me to give her 2 1/2 Trazadone and 3 Gabapentin three hours before her appointment. She wants her nearly sedated. I hope the poor girl can still wag her tail.

I'm not happy about that. The drugs take a long time to leave her system, it stops her from eating her meals for a day or two afterwards, and she often ends up vomiting or with diarrhea even after only a small dose. :( 

Well, the appointment turned out better than I thought it might. Tickles wasn't so drugged that she couldn't walk, she was just a bit slower and less reactive. She allowed the vet to examine her and she did not freak out when two vet tech came into the room to take a blood sample, It was very expensive though, almost $800.00. 

I took a nap in the afternoon. Slept for 36 min.

Mindfulness is simply being fully present in the moment, and aware of what you’re doing and where you are. It’s the act of paying close attention to your thoughts, feelings and sensations as they’re happening. It’s taking note of your surroundings. Mindfulness is a simple, effective way to reduce stress because it stops you from reacting to or feeling overwhelmed by distractions and pressure.

Using mindfulness exercises has been proven to help distance you from concerns that don’t necessarily affect you right now, yet are causing stress.

For example, if you have a looming deadline you’re worried about, you may notice after a session of practicing mindfulness that the deadline will happen in the future, yet it’s causing needless anxiety right now. Being present is an opportunity to recognize unnecessary stress. In fact, it may even help you to be more productive.

One of the best ways to become more grounded in the moment is to just pay attention to the sensations of your body and the environment around you. A good way to start is by focusing on your breath. Try this simple mindfulness practice:

* Start with some deep, simple breaths. This will naturally prepare you to relax by lowering your heart rate and blood pressure.
* Place your awareness on your breath, inhaling and exhaling normally through your nose.
* When thoughts arise, simply label them, “thinking” or “wandering” to yourself, and return your awareness to your breath. It’s natural for thoughts to arise, but the exercise here is to return to mindful breathing.

You can practice mindful breathing for as little as 30 seconds or up to 20 minutes. It’s entirely up to you and what fits your needs. 

When you finish being present for a few minutes, you can re-enter the world relaxed and prepared to approach your responsibilities with a fresh perspective.

I decided to sign up for a 1-year paid subscription to Team Body Project. I had a 20% discount and IF I actually do the workouts it will be worth the price. If I don't do them I'll have thrown my money away. However, I feel the need to get back into a fitness routine and attending live fitness classes at the Older Adult Centre isn't possible with all the medical appointments that I attend with Dennis.
