Today's Journal

When I woke up this morning it felt like my flu symptoms were coming back. I had that hot burning sensation in the bridge of my nose, I have a bit of a cough, my nose is running, I have a headache and my back is really stiff and sore. I hoped that once I got up and got moving I would start to feel better as long as I was careful.

I took Tickles for our morning walk at the cemetery before it got too hot, but as the morning went on my symptoms started getting worse.

At the hospital in order to go in to see Dennis I have to put on a mask and a gown and rubber gloves. I'll have to find out if it's okay for me to even visit today. As long as I don't get close to him or breathe on him he will probably be safe enough.

I probably won't be able to spend much time visiting with him though. The timing of me getting sick again sucks. I think I must have been more rundown than I knew.

At 9:00 am I spoke on the phone with Dennis. Apparently he had a good night his breathing is easier they have them on three different puffers now, and he had the injection in his belly and he said it was no big deal no worse than a little flu shot jab. He has such a high pain tolerance it's crazy. We weren't able to talk very long because the physiotherapist came into the room and wanted to get him up and moving to and then check his oxygen level.

Later we spoke again. The physiotherapist had him walk down a hallway, and go into this little room where there was a practice staircase with four steps. He had Dennis go up and down the four stairs twice. Then he brought him back to the room and checked his oxygen level. His oxygen level dropped really low and it didn't recover. Now he's very wheezy again. Apparently the smallest amount of movement causes all kinds of problems. If they can't figure out how to get his blood oxygen levels up he's going to have to spend the whole weekend in the hospital and not much happens on the weekends, basically you're in a holding pattern.

Dennis hasn't been told anything definitive yet but he's thinking they might send him home with oxygen this time, which means we need to have someone come to the house first to sit up the oxygen tanks and explain how to use them and safety precautions etc. Oh man.

I spent a couple of hours laying on the couch not moving because my back was so sore, but eventually I got up and did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen.

I spoke with Dennis again after lunch. Apparently after the walk test they did today his blood oxygen level was dropping to 77 and it was taking ages to recover and it never has come back up over 90 yet.

They sent him for an echocardiogram. The blood clot is causing his heart to work extra hard. 😭

I left to go to the hospital at 4:00 pm. Stayed from 4:20 pm to about 5:40 pm. Dennis ate most of the dinner they brought him. I got home at 6:00 pm.
